I've not personally, but the largest shop in my town doesn't carry the Sig GSR anymore because customers kept returning them from regular use breakage. They still carry Sigs, just not their 1911's. Maybe the bugs have been worked out since?

As for the light rail, not sure if that in particular is needed, but I think a light source should be handy even if used in the off-hand for target identification. Also, some of those tac lights are *very* blinding; not a bad advantage to have.

I like my Kimber 1911 TLE. Milled to tight tolerances, Match grade trigger assembly and barrel stock from the factory. 5" barrel, 3" is is nonsense. Factory zeroed at 50 yds with night or target sites. The only modification you will need is to dump the stock 16lb mainspring when it wears out (2000 rnds or so) and replace it with an 18 or 18.5lb spring kit for heavier bullets. It eats anything except the Fiochhi HP's. They have a very sharp edge around the point.
LA SWAT standard issue. You can bet they do the research before giving it to their LEOs.

I've got a USP .45F and a 1911. Like them both. But I know that some 1911's can be finnicky, which I've never seen from my USP. Shoots anything I throw at it, is a breeze to clean because of the sweet barrel on it. And I've got big hands so I like the larger size of it.

I don't like lights on my HD guns because I don't want to add another step and complicate the muscle memory....it might be different if my first pistol had come with one
