Georgia Hunting thread.
Arrived in Georgia on the 26th of July, since then I have made 3 trips to the field in search of critters, mostly going out just getting to know the area. I have access to over 250,000 acres of property to hunt and fish, a shooting range, archery range, trap and skeet, boat rentals, campgrounds, pretty much everything you could possibly want for outdoor adventure. Pretty good setup.
This is the first hog kill Ive been a part of. We found a group earlier in the day but I missed a shot through the trees, my partner nailed this one at about 100 yards with his 30-06. Clean kill, pretty much a through and through shot (too much gun, IMO) the hog was DRT. Guesing about 80lbs or so. Took it to the skinning rack and got a lesson on dressing hogs. Too easy, but now Ive got to make a trip to Bass Pro for some new knives! We've got some backstraps and hams in the fridge and Im fired up to get after some more hogs! Friday, 06 August 2010

Got a little 50lbs hog today! Left the camera at the house, so no pic, but Ill post some pics of it on the grill in a few days!
